Is there a more prestigious, golf rich state than Florida? Well, the
World Golf Village, numerous PGA events including The Player's Championship
and the home of Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods all make a convincing
argument. And to top it off, most of Florida's most coveted courses
like the TPC Sawgrass, Doral Blue Course, Bay Hill and World Woods
Barren Course are public and resort courses.
Each area of Florida is home to countless courses, so doing a little
research before your visit is crucial or you won't know where to
begin. In Orlando, golf is often overlooked for theme parks, but
with over 150 courses in the metropolitan area, including over a
dozen new courses since 1998, golf is as much a hotbed as any other
city in America.
Aside
from the TPC at Sawgrass and the World Golf Village, the Jacksonville/St.
Augustine area along the Atlantic Ocean is home to nearly 70 courses,
most of which open to the public. Miami and Naples are home to some
of the ritziest clubs in the country, and from the metro Tampa area
all along the panhandle, resorts and daily courses line the Emerald
Coast. With over 1,500 courses in the Sunshine State, you're never
too far from a golf course, and you can pay as much or as little
as desired, from three-figure gems to $10 holes-in-the-wall.
The Inn at Wildwood is clean and comfortable, with a fitness center, pool and tennis courts, and of course the golf course, Wildwood Country Club, but the real attraction here is the surrounding nature areas.
